Curatorial Remarks

Note

Date based upon printed notice about another game with copyright of 1929; pins must fall into oval holes in playing surface to score; players had two chances to snap disc into pins to knock them into holes and obtain score. First player to 500 or largest score by innings wins [Jessa J. Krick, 9/8/2021].

General Note

Note

This game includes and is based on the scoring for ten pins, although the text of "Rip Van Winkle" clearly refers to "nine-pins." Like many illustrated versions the image shows the men to be dwarfs, which is also not indicated in the text. This game was published in the late 1920s, well over 100 years after the story was first published.
