Written in pencil at viewer's left of silhouette on upper left: "Ledyard." Written in pencil at viewer's left of silhouette on upper right: "Susan." Written in pencil at viewer's lower right of silhouette on lower right: "Brockholst Livingston." Modern typed label on reverse: "Mrs. Catharine (Katelas) Livingston daughter, Susan (Livingston) Ledyard son-in-law Benj. Ledyard and husband Henry Brockholst Livingston -- profiles by Lord's Patent process N. Y. 1810-1830" Nearly illegible, handwritten label on reverse apparently gives names of sitters and refers to Lord's patent process.
