Description
a. Engraved, highly detailed map of the Harz Mountains and surrounding area in Germany in marbelized slipcase: title appears in middle of left side as follows: "Special Charte / von dem / HARZ-GEBIRGE / und dem umliegenden Ländern / nach den besten Hülfssmitteln und neusten / Orstsbestimungen entworfen und herausgegeben / von dem / Geographifchen Institute / zu WEIMAR / 1808 / Als Gegenstück / zu der / Special-Charte vom Thüringer / Walde.;" map is in sixteen paper sections of approximately 8" x 6" and pasted on linen and housed in a marbled paper and cardboard slipcase; cities, roads, villages, elevations, bodies of water named and depicted with shading and colors (black, red, green); a slender, ornate design within two black lines borders the map and is itself bordered by an more detailed frame with a different design in each of the four corners; "Map 200/90 / (90/61)" is typed on a white label which appears on the upper left reverse corner.
b. Map slipcase of cardboard covered with gray, brown and black marbled paper; houses map L.2004.103a; sealed on three sides with opening at top; "Germany" is written in ink on both sides; "Map 200/90 / (90/61)" is typed on a white label which appears on the lower right corner of one side.

Remarks: a. Paper map pasted in sixteen equal and seperate sections on linen; print is very clear; some ink (red) has run on front; linen edges are dirty and frayed; some surface dirt and staining, mostly on reverse side.
b. Edges are worn and dented; some pieces missing and cardboard showing through on upper left corner of side with label and on left side of reverse side of case; bottom of case is scuffed with both corners worn through to the cardboard.
