Description

A) Broad curved blade is single edged with no false edge. A broad shallow fuller extends from the Ricasso to six inches from the point. The grip is wood, carved with deep parallel grooves and covered with leather wrapped in brass wire. The metal parts of the hilt are iron consisting of a ferrule at the base of the grips; a backstrap surmounts the grips and expands to form a covering for the pommel: A knuckle bow of an exaggerated reverse "P" form; a quillon with largets projecting over the blade and a disc finial above the blade. The backstrap is decorated with a spray of leaves near the pommel. B) The scabbard is iron with iron fittings consisting of a throat, two carrying rings and a small asymmetrical drag. It is undecorated and unmarked. (mark:K C MALIR)
