Description

A cotton runner with cotton embroidery at either end. The thread for embroidery is blue and red, using a cross stitch on white background cotton cloth; it should be mentioned the cloth is more of beige deteriorated color. The overall design of the embroidery has a Medieval feel to it. The design starting at top has arcuate type forms, then a sort of fleur de lys design. The next band is the largest with diamond pattern with a quatrefoil design in diamond center. The bottom edge of diamond has fringe like stitch, which gives the appearance of hanging. The edges are fringed and appear to have been cross knotted, but are badly worn off now. One embroidered edge appears to have been reattached to the whole cloth.
