MP.94.371Description
A polychromatic table throw embroidered with silk thread. The throw is primarily red with hints of green, black, and yellow. The border along the shorter edges of the cloth are made of three bands, the middle band being the widest. It is composed of red stylized trees with green branches and trunks. These trees alternate with a vertical geometric columnar pattern, broken into segments with a circle in the center. This middle band is flanked on the top and bottom by a running band of red squares, divided by green vertical lines, bordered by two black lines with yellow crosses parallel to each other; along the longer edges of the cloth is a single linear green chevron motif. This is between two parallel black lines with yellow crosses. The center field is of red octagonal shaped forms with small holes in the center, alternating (vertically and horizontally) with red square shaped forms with similar holes. There is a green segmented line that runs along the obliques (in an X-pattern) at 45 degrees. The forms seem to be satin-stitched (?) and are outlined by a delicate outline stitch of red. The patterns are sewn onto two pieces of gauze. These pieces were joined and a subtle seam divides the table throw in half, parallel to the long edges. A safety pin gathers the cloth to the left.Made/Created
