One of seven teaspoons; oval bowl with semi-pointed tip; u-shaped addition to transition from bowl to shaft; shaft widens to wide tapered upturned Hanoverian-style handle; hallmarked: "J.DODGE" punch; engraved in script on back of handle: "EE" over "Irving".

Remarks: General wear pattern overall; .60 has green accretion on back of handle; .62 black spots of tarnish on back of shaft and in bowl even after polishing; .64 worn hallmark; .65 black spot of tarnish on shaft even after polishing.

According to family history, this item was part of a group of flatware owned by Ebenezer Irving. The "EE Irving" inscription would suggest an owner with those intials. Ellen Eugenie du Pont married into the Irving family in 1872, but long after John Dodge's period of activity. The engraving could have been added to old pieces, or the "EE"' added to Irving silver. More research is required [Jessa J. Krick, 12/19/2012].
