Note

In object file is a photocopy of a lithograph(?) of Martha Washington published by P. Mallett & Co. Portland, Maine, in 1880(?). Note on the reverse of the photocopy says "removed from back (of SS.64.424) during conservation 1984." Slide No. 29 is of this Martha Washington portrait.

General Note

Note

During inventory, Jessa and Caitlin determined that the individual silhouettes, while created at different dates, are now mounted together, and so do not need individual component letters. Jessa changed the component letters to (a.) work on paper and (b.) frame; it is unclear from the original cataloging why a-e. were given as component letters, the idea that each silhouette was given its own letter is supposition.
