Apsey was born in Cambridge, MA on Nov 14, 1902 and had a distinguished legal career in the U.S. Government and private industry. He married Virginia Whittingham of Red Hook in 1927. Virginia was an active member of the Friends of Elmendorph and the Egbert Benson Historical Society of Red Hook. Lawrence and Virginia appear to have moved to Red Hook from New York City after Lawrence’s retirement. He wrote several books on Quaker topics during his retirement and died in Fresno, CA on Nov 30, 1997. Provenance Linda Keeling salvaged these papers that were going to be thrown away and donated them to the Egbert Benson Historical Society of Red Hook in 1998.
