What a remarkable accomplishment! I am a descendant of some of your earliest residents. My Great Great Great Great Grandfather was Nicholas Allendorf (1775-1853) who owned a large farm in Upper Red Hook on Old Post Road. One of his daughters. Catherine Allendorf (1812-1900). is my Great Great Great Grandmother. She married my Great Great Great Grandfather Gottlob Haas (1806-1865), a German emigrant who settled in Red Hook in the early 1830's. Shortly after arriving he built and operated the Park Hotel, and later had a general store in Red Hook. I am curious if it is today's Red Hook Hotel? My sister Judy Schlernitzauer lives in Swansea. Ma and recently visited your town. If you have a historian who may have further information about our ancestors she would be anxious to hear from you (her email address is ).
