In this letter dated 01/20/1944, Walter expresses hope that his draft deferment is renewed. He expresses frustration with the number of young men In Dutchess County asking for draft deferments; many are ‘fake farmers’. Walter has sympathy for the draft board having to make these decisions. He tells Alfred that there is a 1944 Chevrolet awaiting him on his return.
