Maizeland. Caption from "Brief History of Red Hook" reads 'Maizefield: When he moved from Upper Red Hook to the lower village around 1795, David Van Ness built his house with a commanding western view, "beneath the mountains" as he ever referred to his home. With its fine Palladian window and geometric motifs, the Georgian-Federal house is considered one of the finest examples of post-Revolutionary war construction.Photograph Details
