Scope and Content

Small wooden cask known as a "firkin" used to store liquids, butter or fish. H Pulver inscribed on top. Missing top hoop and handle. Late 18th/19th century. H Pulver probably is Henrich Pulver (1738-1793) who was a 2nd lieutenant and captain of the 9th company, 10th Regiment of Levies and Albany County Militia of New York in the Revolutionary War. He is likely the same Henry Pulver who was one of the early settlers on what is now Echo Valley Farm in Red Hook.
