Looking south, left to right: one-story pig house, two-story combined garage, haymow and workshop, four-bay haybarn topped with windmill, and wooden silo (behind the maple tree). On December 29,1999, faulty bucket-warmer sparked a huge conflagration that, in 20 minutes, consumed 16 sheep, three pigs, 1,500 bales of hay, farm equipment (prized 1941 Case SC tractor) and irreplaceable family photographs, business records, stored furniture and memorabilia, not to mention the barns themselves -- always the heart of a farm.Photograph Details
