Letter from Tarsilla Schuster to her mother, dated March 28, 1914. It reads, "My dear Mother, I suppose you received the letter I wrote you the other evening. Well, everything is just the same as the other evening. All the girls have to take their turn in helping with the different work. The meals I don't care much about. I do not eat lunch. I never saw such a healthy and jolly lot for a hospital. You would not take them for sick people. There is one girl right in the next room. She looks as well as any one still, her lungs are in the worst condition. She does not even have pains or anything else. So, you see looks do not always tell the truth. The room I am in has three beds but am alone, so far. I miss you all so much. I wish you would send John's picture up with the other things. I certainly do hope you are feeling well, that John does not worry you. If he should just tie him in his rocking horse. Write to me soon. Will close with lots of love and kisses. Your loving daughter and sister, Tarsilla. Big hugs and kisses for my dear John and Tarsilla." Included envelope addressed to "Mrs. M.A. Fletcher 103 Ditmas Ave, Kensington, Brooklyn, New York" and postmarked in Ray Brook on March 28, 1914.Collection
