Description

Glass bottle embossed with "F. M. Bull / Saranac Lake / N. Y." Has glass gravitating stopper with rubber seal inside. This bottle was found in the Saranac River, downstream from the location of the F. M. Bull Drug Store on Main Street. Its neck style, heavy glass, and glass stopper indicate it is a "Matthews Patent" style bottle/stopper, likely produced between 1881 and 1885, and was likely used for mineral or soda water. There is a chunk missing from the lip on the back side of the bottle but it has been worn smooth over time in the water.
