Description

Photograph postcard showing a horse-drawn Winter Carnival float with two men on it. The float holds an icicle-covered structure with "Carnival 1909" suspended in large letters. The float is covered in various sized American flags and the horse wears a blanket reading 1898-1909. The porch of the Riverside Inn can be seen in the background. Used, divided back, postmarked Saranac Lake, February 26, 1909. Marked "Souvenir of Saranac Lake, N. Y." on the reverse. Handwritten message on reverse reads, "Sent Fay a line this morning. Such a beautiful day here. Will write again tomorrow. Feel pretty good tonight. This is the float that took first premium to Carnival. Belle." Mailed to Mrs. Ettie Gillett, Geneseo, Liv. Co., NY.
