2022.84.1Description
Silver fork with "N.Y.S.I" [possibly mistake for H, acronym may stand for New York State Hospital] stamped on handle. A letter "E" has been crudely carved at the bottom of the handle. The fork has four tines, and is probably a dinner fork. The reverse is stamped, "Mexican Silver, 67." This fork was likely used by patients at New York State Hospital for Incipient Tuberculosis, AKA Ray Brook Sanatorium. It was discovered buried nearby, and has corroded due to exposure to the elements.Made/Created
