Monday evening -- Dear Ethel -- In a rush again as I've been staining the table and am now trying to get this note in for the mail. Tell Doctor B-- that the table is stained and looks fine although it has not quite dried out yet. Is a great color. Was at the house this noon and they are working on the stairs and kitchen dressers. The floors are all filled and look good - especially the ones in front rooms which are oak and are really fine. Painter is working finishing up sash, etc. outside. The woodwork in kitchen is so good that they all say it seems too bad to paint it just yet- what do you say to just varnishing it for the first and we can paint it later. It will look fine but you may have had the white in mind so long that you will be disappointed. Let me know please. I ordered a Craftsman willow dining room elec. light fixture to day. Think it will be good. Am enclosing the "list" which looks rather formidable. There are a few addresses I can't get -- so we will have to leave them for awhile. And- Brownie, did you say you were going to ask Art Cook down? I don't have any idea he will go of course but somehow think he expected to be best man -- I'd like him to feel he wasn't left out entirely. And, by the way, as near as I can figure our house will be #62 Lake Flower Ave. (Moody's is 60 and we must be 62). Chas. was up yesterday and we were teasing him and Roda and they seem to take it all quite calmly. I told him our plans and about how (in)formal the wedding would be, etc. He asked if we wouldn't hire him and his car to take our trip by auto! I said sure -- at $1.50 per day. And will you please send me the size of your wee finger- dear- so we can have the ring made right. I've been looking at them and they sure are pretty. Let me have this soon- please. Beastly weather here- rain every day and the new moon is a wet one. Surely by next month it will be all rained out. Hot to day and sunny until. afternoon when down came the rain again. Sat. afternoon I had to go up on the lake to see about a new boat house. Then went over to No. 62 and then back home to work on scraping the table. Some job- and that fuming with ammonia! Gee- but I cried like a baby (felt so bad to think it was so near finished ). Yesterday it rained in the morning, then cleared until Chas. came with the car to take us for a ride and then rained again- so we didn't go. Now, dear girl, here's a 'good night' and a big kiss for you. My love to all. Write when you can. Yours, Billie.
