Handwritten caption on the page reads, "Wreck of plane showing body of pilot. Taken after the wreck was brought to the dock at Essex by U. S. Gov't. Lighthouse Tug. Two men and one woman were in this plane when it fell into the lake. It was in the water over a month before it was located. Wreck recovered by Game Protectors in 332 ft of water in vicinity of Four Brothers Islands Lake Champlain. July 30, 1936."
