Handwritten message on reverse reads, "Thursday, 19:10a.m. Dear Mae, Your received. Was glad to hear from you. Can't get time to write a letter. Fred is sick. The Dr. says he must not get up on his feet nor sit in a chair for at least a week or 20 days. He is in much pain he can't stand it. And he can't sit in a chair it hurts him. So I don't know what he will do [?] crazy for he can't get along & work every day. Will write a letter if I can. Love, Martha."
