Color postcard with image of a woman and a man standing arm-and-arm on grass. The man is wearing a uniform and holding a rifle in his other arm. Printed caption on front reads, "I'd Prefer to Hike With You," with handwritten note, "instead of staying in Ray Brook. Best regards to all. L. LaFountain." No printer's mark. Used, divided back, white border, postmarked Ray Brook, NY, May 3, 1922.
Handwritten note on reverse reads, "Please consider this a letter. We don't get much time to write letters as the nurse makes me sit out doors most of the time and it is to cold to write there. When you start a plant leave it in water and don't change the water on it just fill the glass as the water evaporates. When the roots stand out then put it in dirt. I think I will be well enough to go home in May. With love, L." Mailed to Miss Margaret [?], West Branch, N. Y.Collection
