Letter sent by Dr. Edward Livingston Trudeau to Dr. Sidney F. Blanchet, June 25, 1910. 1s, 1p. With envelope with "Dr. Trudeau's letter" written on the front. The letter is typed on Dr. Trudeau's letterhead, with "E. L. Trudeau, M.D. Consultation by Appointment" printed in the upper left corner. In an envelope with handwritten note, “Dr. Trudeau’s Letter,” and return address of P. O. Box 327, Saranac Lake, NY.
Letter reads, "Dr. Blanchet, the honored guest, Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong, the Doctors and Nurses of the Sanitarium:- It is with the utmost regret that I realize how impossible it is for me to be with you to-night on this occasion and to join with you in honor to Dr. Blanchet, who is about to give up his official position at the institution. Though in these days you see little of me, I hope you know and feel that I am always with you in spirit. Even though I am held down as I am now in the clutches of the tiger and confined to my bed, the Sanitarium and the work you are doing there, and doing so well, is ever in my thoughts, and I appreciate your efforts to make the institution worthy of its reputation.
I know you must all feel, as I do, the deepest regret at Dr. Blanchet's departure. He has won the affection of many and the respect and esteem of everybody connected with the institution, and has given the Sanitarium most devoted and painstaking service. I want to thank him for the excellence of his work and the spirit in which it has been rendered, and to tell him before you all how I admire and esteem him; and I am glad that he is to continue his medical work at Saranac Lake so that he will not pass out of our lives when he leaves the institution.” Signed, “E. L. Trudeau."Subject Person/Organization
