Envelope has design with deer and a hunter, reading, "Rainbow Lake Hotel, Adirondacks, J. M. Wardner, Proprietor. Post Office Address: Bloomingdale, Essex Co., N. Y. The Best Hunting, Boating & Fishing Grounds to be found in the Adirondack Mountains. Sportsmen entertained and supplied."
Letter reads: "Rainbow Lake House, Sept 23. Dear Sister: I arrived here all right not very tired. Found a rig waiting at Bloomingdale for me. That man in the stage that morning you took for a Priest turned out to be somebody's coachman from New York. I was over at Loon Lake Saturday with a Gentleman that is here and is traveling for his health he has been sick for twelve years. You can tell Father I got that twelve dollars ($12.00) of Chase. I thought I would not send it in a letter it might get lost. I will keep it until I go down. I have also been out to Paul Smith twice since I came back. I think the cough is better again. I don't near as hard in the morning as I did or at least I have not for the last three mornings. Has Mrs. Tierney gone home if not remember me to her and give my love to all the folks. Be sure and write very soon. From Your Brother, John.
P. S. I got the letter from you he has got well said he was sorry they was not there when you called wanted you to come again. Has Father traded horses yet."Subject Place
