Description

Cyanotype with color enlargement, view of the western shoreline of Stonington Borough. Given to the Society by Harry Northup before his death. With note: "A view looking basically North East at the West side of Stonington. Many of the buildings in the scene are gone, those that were not torn down were destroyed in the 1938 Hurricane. Also, the church tower just to the right center is not there anymore. The Church was located on upper Water Street, almost across from the Muller Block. Note the same sloop in the picture still anchored in the same spot. From the length of the main boom and the boom for the jib or topsail, it must have had an enormous sail area. Building on left is railroad round house - torn down before 1914 celebration of 100th Anniversary of the Battle of Stonington."
