Description

Ladies silk dress, restyled from the 1840s. Some areas hand sewn. Cartridge pleating at back waist, front skirt was same legth as back skirt at creation. Flat front panel on skirt, opens at upper right seam. Wide pleats whip stitched to waistband, cotton binding at hem. Bodice has machine buttonholes, back and top machine stitching and false seam down the back. Hook and eye closure up the bodice beneath the buttons. Dress is horizontal purple stripes between blue and cream plaid vertical design. Name Pendleton is written in pencil on yellow lined paper and sewn into lining seam.
