Oil portrait of the Rev. Ira Hart (1771-1829).
Pastor of the First Congregational Church of Stonington (Road Church) 1809-1829. He came to Stonington in 1809, having worked as a missionary in New York and Pennsylvania. Chaplin of Col. Randall's regiment, was present at the British Bombardment of Stonington in 1814. Known for his High Calvinist theology. Died at 58 on the day he was to have preached the sermon at the dedication of the new meeting house on the site of the Old Road church on Agreement Hill. Size: 20 1/2 x 17 inches
