Oil portrait of Captain Thomas Burtch or Burch (1807-1888) attributed to Orlando Hand Bears (1811-1851). Son of Thomas Burtch and Mary Burdick, born 25 August 1807, died 2 May 1888, Capt. Thomas Portrait of Thomas Burch by Orlando Beers. Thomas married 1) Harriet Miner, daughter of Asa and Hannah Miner, who died 2 February 1875 ae 57/0/25; 2) Harriet H. Gardiner born 26 July 1836, died 31 March 1916; in 1903 his widow married Anthony Squadrito, a 25 year old Italian barber whose brother Joseph's daughter, Katherien, married Paul Schepis. The Squadrito family still own the Thomas Burtch house at 134 Water Street (SW corner of Water and Grand) in Stonington Borough. A sea captain, he had a confectioner's store in later life in the first floor of his house.
