Mosaic Patchwork Quilt a mosaic pieced quilt with a larger central mosaic, sometimes referred to as honeycomb and hexagon. Today it is sometimes known as Grandmother's Flower Garden. each "flower" is 2 1/2 inches in diameter 7 hexagons to each flower and each hexagon is 7/8 of an inch/ paper templates were used to shape each piece before basting The earliest surviving American example dates from 1785. the Mosaic patchwork grew in populairty in New Englnad in the years after 1800
