Lithograph of New York Marine Society membership certificate for Capt. William Turner, 1773 . Certificate #446 8-1/2 x 11 inches with small tear in upper lefthand corner. Lithograph done for D. T. Valentine Manual for 1862 by A. Brown & Co., 47 Nassau St NY. "The lithograph bears very fine vignettes of the 3 principal marine sciences, astronomy, geography, and mathematics, a shipwreck with a drowned sean, widow and children as the "good angels" of the Marine Society stand there for comfort and relief of the family. There is also a vignette of a female Indian with a bow and arrow with a human head on the ground pierced with an arrow. Finally there is a scene of the City of New York as seen from Governor's Island in 1770."
