Collection of ledgers, account books and papers relating to the Estate of Joshua Stevens, 1861-1874.
Capt. Joshua Stevens (the son of Stanton and Eunice Stevens) was a wealthy Stonington whaling captain, married to Mary Ann Starrett Stevens (1817-1872) in Stonington, CT, 1835. The couple had one child, Francis Pendleton Stevens, born in Stonington, 1836. Their portraits hang in the Woolworth Library.
Captain Stevens sailed the Stonington Whaler, the United States to Magdalena Bay, Mexico to hunt gray whales in 1845-1846.
