Collections of correspondence, bills and other papers belonging to Ira Hart Palmer, 1867-1885. (found with note indicating that the materials may have been found in his attic). Ira Hart Palmer, the son of Benjamin Franklin Palmer and Eliza Harriet Palmer was born in Mystic Bridge, April 1836 and died in Stonington August 25, 1903. He married Harriet Palmer, and together they had 4 sons: Henry Robinson Palmer, Arthur Trumbull Palmer, Charles Sherman Palmer, and Frank Trumbull Palmer. Ira had diverse business interests in Stonington: he established the first steamboat line between Stonington and Watch Hill, RI, was a local agent of the telegraph company, a correspondent for The Day newspaper, a secretary of the N.Y., Providence and Boston R.R., connected with Stonington Bank and involved in the local pharmaceutical business. He also worked as the owner and proprietor of the Wadawanuc (or Wadawanuck) Hotel. Folder 1 "Rhode Island Granite Company" - Correspondence and bills of Ira Hart Palmer, found by M.F.
