It certainly is a scene of total disorder to me. Steam rising from the stack, near the water, could be from the boiler to power the engine that operated the gin pole boom, just to the north of it, only a guess. What the near tower was used for is a mystery. In the background is the harbor and beyond that is Wamphassuc Point. Note, there are no homes built along the shoreline yet. It was a huge farm with beautiful walled fields at the time."Collection
