"Madam, As my intentions are honorable I hope it will be a sufficient excuse for the liberty I have taken in paying my addresses to your amiable Daughters and as my views are founded upon the strictest principles of honor and justice; so I wish for them to meet with your approbation. I have the honor to be with respect and esteem your most obedient and very humble servant - Nathan Smith."
