Scope and Content

A collection of materials relating to Prudence Hallam Gabriel, the daughter of two Stonington enslaved people, and her husband, Alexander (Claude) Gabriel, a free man from Haiti, who went to work for Tsar Alexander I in 1812. This includes copies of research files from the Library of Congress and other sources. The first folder is the completed material for reference, with the research materials making up the rest of the folders. Prudence Hallam Gabriel was the daughter of Pero Hallam and Phyllis Brown.
