Scope and Content

Petition by twelve members of the Pequot Tribe of North Stonington, asking the court to replace their overseer Ezra Hewitt with Deacon Charles Wheeler, son of Colonel Thomas Wheeler, their former overseer. Especially important as the names of the Indians are recorded with their marks at the bottom of the page. A transcription of the document is also included in the folder. Pequots listed include Sarah Pomp, Freelove Fagins, Thomas Nedson, Cyrus Shelly, Samuel Shuntaup (?), Rachel Pawhedge, Thankful Nedson, Ned Nedson, Wealthy Nedson, Polly Nedson
