A collection of documents relating to Elijah Wiatt or Wyatt of Stonington. Elijah was born April 23, 1709, the son of Jonathan and Martha Wyatt/Wiatt. In addition to the primary source materials listed below, there is also a genealogical chart filled out by the donor, as well as a photocopy of a DAR application that shows further family linkages.
1. Indenture of Elijah Wiatt, 1748. Mr. Wiatt applied for a loan of 14 pounds for an 80 acre tract of land in Westerly, RI. On the reverse are notes of payment, and a note by Edward Thurston that the mortgage had been fully paid off by 1761.
2. A quit claim deed from Samuel Mason to Elijah Wiatt, January 25, 1776. For twelve shillings, Elijah purchased part of a 100 acre lot that had been awarded to Mrs. Ann Chesebrough.
3. Receipt from Amos Crandall Jr. March 13, 1787 concerning a corn delivery to Mr. Nathaniel Church.
4. Unsigned promissory note, May 21, 1794, to pay Amos Crandall Jr. twenty four shillings and three pence.
5. Promissory note signed by William Palmer 2nd, January 19, 1795. He owes Captain Charles Crandall sixteen shillings and six pence.
6. Unsigned promissory note, June 16, 1796. Will pay William Rhodes eighteen shillings and six pence on demand with interest.
