Scope and Content

Four single manuscript pages, relating to four different ships. The first is a pay stub signed by John Delatown and John Palmer, dated 1783, for work done as Mate on the ship Count Destang. There is a receipt signed by Benjamin Pendleton, dated 1836, in reference to a chain cable, 60 fathoms, provided by Phineas Wilcox for the ship Penguin. There is a shipping receipt for the Mercury, dated 1836, which carried 760 seal skins and 228 seal pup skins out of the Faulkland Islands. This receipt mentions Captain Phineas Wilcox, Charles T. Stanton, and Ephraim Williams. The last document in this folder is a poem called "On the Wreck of the John Minturn", written by "a friend" in Stonington, 1846.
