Scope and Content

A collection of items relating to the Fairbrother family of Stonington, and perhaps allied families. Included in this collection are three letters, one from Leland Fairbrother about the death of Aunt Anne, undated. The second is dated 1861 and addressed to "my dear sister Prudence" from "your brother E.Chesebro" about visiting family and friends. The third letter is dated 1919 and sent from a US Army Embarkation Hospital in New York City, to Mother from Bill, which describes his time in the hospital recooperating. There is a newspaper clipping of Colonel Coolidge bringing the Coolidge family bible to the capital for his son to swear in on - includes a photograph of the "snow boat" - winterized vehicle. In addition to a few Christmas cards and some photographs of the Stonington landscape, there is a series of unidentified photographs of people. These have been divided up into family groups as they were observed in processing. Have yet to be identified as of 2/6/2019. "Mother Mollie" mentioned in the first letter, may be Mary Miller Fairbanks, wife of Lorenzo. Prudence is the daughter of Mary and Lorenzo, as is "Bill" from the 1919 letter - Billings Fairbrother. Aunt Anna, may be Mary's oldest child who passed away in 1918. Man in the wedding photos is has been identified as possibly being Billings Fairbrother, the judge.
