Description

An enlarged reproduction print of an original photograph in the donor's collection. The image shows a group of children standing in a horse-drawn sleigh in the winter. A man with a pipe is driving the team, but all are looking at the photographer. Reverse side of the photograph reads: This picture is of Mr. Cornelius Miner taking the children to the Quaimbaug school, in upper Quaimbaug, around 1900. This picture was taken about one thousand feet North of the Miner Homestead, at the junction of Route 1 and Quaimbaug Road, in front of the driveway, then belonging to the Northam family, now 1954 the Edgemere Inn property. Those on teh sleigh are Mr. Miner and next to him, the fat boy (myself) Charles F. Noyes, then Lillian Wilcox Lamb, Gladys Wilcox, Grace Miner. Then from left to right front row: Oliver Denison, Vernon Clark, Clifford Denison, Robert Northam, Bessie Clark. My younger brother William Noyes on the sled, and I think Aldean Clark sitting on the sleigh.
