Walter Fish with his rig, 1900Entry/Object ID
2020.268.010Description
A photograph pasted to a decorative cardboard mount of Walter Fish standing beside a sailboat up on a flat-bed wagon. He and the boat are in front of a long clapboard building, most likely a shipyard. Reverse reads: Mr. Walter Fish with his rig for carrying boats to places of shipment by rail or to the place they were to go. This was taken at the old West Mystic shipyard when it was operated by Mr. Charles Holmes about 1900. Think this was a Life Saving boat for the Fisher's Island Life Saving Station. Mr. Holmes built the first powered lifeboats and also the engines that went in them.
