Description

A photographic postcard showing the Camp Fire Girls, dressed as Native Americans, in the Battle of Stonington Centennial Parade in August 1914. Camp Fire Girls was founded in 1910 by Dr. Luther Halsey Gulick, Charlotte Vetter Gluck and their colleagues. It was the first multicultural, multiracial, nonsectarian organization to promote outdoor experiences for girls. They believed girls deserved the outdoor learning experiences that boys had and wanted to help "guide young people on their journey to self discovery."
