Scope and Content

A collection of 20 questionnaires completed by former students and staff of West Broad Street School, collected in 1996, most likely for the centennial celebration of the school. The questionnaire asks: What are the approximate years you attended/worked at/lived near West Broad? What grades attended West Broad when you were there? Who was the principal of the school at that time? Name some of the teachers you remember, especially your favorite one. Tell us about the morning ritual at school - how did each day start? Tell us about the lunch and recess customs of the day. Did students walk home to eat? What games did they play? Did boys and girls play together? What were some of the highlights of the school year? Tell us how students were disciplined. Tell us how local, regional or world events impacted on the school? This collection also includes some notes, that appear to have been taken while speaking to some of these participants. A listing of the participants with their address and years attended (if known) is included as well. Names include: Cara MacDonald Torin McKenna Andrew Doreen Brennan Ellie Dunn Karen Hamm Elizabeth Ward Barbara Stowell-Higgins Varian Norman Marion Norman Dorothy Kashanski Peter Kashanski James J.
