Scope and Content

A small, discolored letter, written about 1740 by Lydia Fish to her brother. This woman may be the Lydia Fish who was born in 1707 in Duxbury, MA the daughter of Thomas Fish (1664-1738). In the letter, she mentions poor health, and Duxbury, MA as well as her hope to travel to Stonington soon. She also mentions needing advice about a man showing her attention, and how her reason has been overcome by her heart. Full transcription is included, as the letter is quite old and faded. Letter is addressed to Joseph Fish, who was a sibling of Lydia born 1707. Joseph was born in 1705. A note on the back reads "Miss Lydia Fish, abt 1740", but letter itself is undated.
