Description

Figurehead of the GREAT REPUBLIC Ship was bought after it burned at dock in NY and rebult. Figurehead owned by N B Palmer. Came to [Stonington] when ship was re-built. Remained in Loper boathouse until loaned and finally sold to Mystic Seaport Per additional note from donor: "As children, Alexander, Priscilla, Richard and Elizabeth Loper often hung their bathing suits to dry on the figurehead which was stored in Pine Point's bathouse."
