Description

An account of the Allied invasion of Sicily during World War II. John Mason Brown was aboard the ship named "Spelvin" in the book, and recounts his announcements of the battles to the men hidden in the man of war boats, beneath deck, as well as his personal remembrances. John Mason Brown was a Lieutenant in the United States Naval Reserves. The forward was written by Rear Admiral Alak G. Kirk, USN. Book contains photographs contemporary with the accounts. Front flyleaf contains the inscription: "Joe from Mary, Christmas 1943", as well as a book plate for Joseph P. Williams. NOTE: The front of the original dust jacket was found folded and tucked into the book. It has been removed, placed in mylar, and now resides in the Brown family People File in the Reading Room of the Woolworth Library.
