A book from the estate of J.D. "Sandy" McClatchy, inscribed by Mrs. Maria Hart. Front flyleaf reads: "Mrs. Maria Hart, Jan'y 1st 1852. Stonington. "Let me live the life, that I may die the Death of a Christian." "Blessed is that servant, whom, when his Lord cometh, shall find so doing his Master's will."" This book includes some small pencil marked marginalia, but whether it is from the original owner or Mr. McClatchy is unknown. The book is arranged in two parts, with individual biographies as case studies for the given sections.
Part I is The Dying Christian, which includes sections entitled The Christian Martyrs, Ministers of the Gospel, Christian Men, Christian Women, Christian Children and Youth, Dying Regrets of Worldly-Minded Professors.
