Black and white photograph of the Vargas Brothers Ice Company harvesting at ice at Sylvia's Pond in the winter of 1937 (2 copies). Handwritten on back: "Prior to 1938 and probably Jan. 1936 at Lower Ice Pond, Rt. 1, Stonington. Paul Bergel in action." Second caption: "Vargas Pond - January 1937 - Open water portion of west shed slide. Hookman P. Bergel is starting to take a load of 12 ice cakes 12" thick up the slide and into the West Shed.
