Description

Miniature profile portrait on ivory of unidentified man facing viewer's left. Framed in rectangular, black wood with metalic gold oval inset. framed in gold oval. Back ground is grey fading to shadow around profile. Framed behind glass in rectangular black wood (laquer?) with metalic gold oval inset, 2-1/2 x 3"h. Frame, 4 x 4-1/2". Handwritten on verso "Portrayed at 40 years of age." C. 1835? One of pair with PH1989.179.002, female miniature, presumably his wife.
