Caption from Harry Northrup: "This is a picture of a three masted schooner, anchored just off Stonington Point, between the breakwaters. She is deep laden, probably with coal, lumber, bricks or anything the town would need. It could also be there to avoid a bad storm outside, and entered the harbor for a safe anchorage. There used to be hundreds of these coasters plying their trade. Some were built big enough to have six masts and one even had seven masts. It was a tough way to make a living."Collection
